Disney’s Famous Le Cellier Restaurant: Is It Really Worth the Big Buck$?!

Le Cellier is one of those restaurants that every Disney fan has at least heard about. Whether they ate there or could even get reservations is entirely another matter. Stories of dining at Le Cellier have reached a level of mythic proportions, both the great and not so great. You have to make sure you book reservations as soon as the 180 day window opens. Reservations fill up quickly, and you are lucky if you can find an opening, especially if you are close to your vacation date. Does this legendary Disney restaurant really live up to all the hype?  Here are three reasons why you should definitely check out Le Cellier.

1) Location

Le Cellier is in the Canada Pavilion at Epcot below the Chateau. Le Cellier translates to “The Cellar” and the ambiance holds true to that name. You walk down a flower-lined path to get there, and it has some great photo spots along the walk. The outside of the building is beautiful, and once you walk inside, you will enter a room that is set up like an old wine cellar. The restaurant does not have any windows, making it perfect for a romantic dinner or to just cool off on a hot Florida day.

2) Fabulous Food

The food at Le Cellier more than lives up to the hype!

There are a lot of great Canadian inspired dishes, but not to worry, because the food will appeal to most everyone.

The beer cheese soup is one of the more popular appetizers, and it is delicious.

They have a nice variety of meals, but the steak there is unbeatable and certainly what most people order, a definite must-do if you are looking for a melt in your mouth meal. All of the sides there are large enough to share, so be sure to try more than one.

Seared Scallops- $14

Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup- $9

Mushroom Filet Mignon- $43.00

New York Strip- $44.00

Pacific King Salmon- $35.00

Potato Leek and Goat Cheese Quiche- $25.00

Sautéed Mushrooms- $8.00

Trio of Chocolate- $10.00

Meals at Le Cellier use two dining credits on the Disney Dining Plan for dinner. There is a nice wine selection, and the servers were great at giving you good choices to go with your meal. They also have options for children as well, including grilled sirloin, baked fish, and pasta. The kids meals range from $7 to $11, and they offer a kids pick at lunch for $8.99 that includes an appetizer, entrée and dessert (chosen off the child’s menu).

3) Overall experience

The service at Le Cellier is what people have come to expect from Disney. The servers are attentive, knowledgeable, and go out-of-the-way to make your experience one you will remember. All of the people who work there are from Canada, so they can also provide some fun trivia information about the country.

The dress is resort casual, so this means no hats to cover your windblown hair after getting off of Test Track! They do not allow tank tops, swim suits or torn clothing either. The restaurant is non-smoking, and you can book reservations online or by calling 407-WDW-DINE.

Le Cellier is a signature restaurant so some people may be turned off by the price, however if you are looking for a good meal in an elegant setting, it is definitely worth it! The nice thing is that they also offer lunch, so if you are looking for the same experience at a slightly lower price, then lunch is a great option as well, and that will only use up one credit on the Disney Dining Plan.  The question was, “Does Le Cellier live up to all the hype?” In a word, I say yes! If you are getting close to that 180 day window, get ready to start making those reservations!
