Le Cellier is one of those restaurants that every Disney fan has at least heard about. Whether they ate there or could even get reservations is entirely another matter. Stories of dining at Le Cellier have reached a level of mythic proportions, both the great and not so great. You have to make sure you book reservations as soon as the 180 day window opens. Reservations fill up quickly, and you are lucky if you can find an opening, especially if you are close to your vacation date. Does this legendary Disney restaurant really live up to all the hype?  Here are three reasons why you should definitely check out Le Cellier.

1) Location

Le Cellier is in the Canada Pavilion at Epcot below the Chateau. Le Cellier translates to “The Cellar” and the ambiance holds true to that name. You walk down a flower-lined path to get there, and it has some great photo spots along the walk. The outside of the building is beautiful, and once you walk inside, you will enter a room that is set up like an old wine cellar. The restaurant does not have any windows, making it perfect for a romantic dinner or to just cool off on a hot Florida day.

2) Fabulous Food

The food at Le Cellier more than lives up to the hype!

There are a lot of great Canadian inspired dishes, but not to worry, because the food will appeal to most everyone.

The beer cheese soup is one of the more popular appetizers, and it is delicious.

They have a nice variety of meals, but the steak there is unbeatable and certainly what most people order, a definite must-do if you are looking for a melt in your mouth meal. All of the sides there are large enough to share, so be sure to try more than one.

Here are some of the menu selections with prices:

Seared Scallops- $14

Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup- $9

Mushroom Filet Mignon- $43.00

New York Strip- $44.00

Pacific King Salmon- $35.00

Potato Leek and Goat Cheese Quiche- $25.00

Sautéed Mushrooms- $8.00

Trio of Chocolate- $10.00

Meals at Le Cellier use two dining credits on the Disney Dining Plan for dinner. There is a nice wine selection, and the servers were great at giving you good choices to go with your meal. They also have options for children as well, including grilled sirloin, baked fish, and pasta. The kids meals range from $7 to $11, and they offer a kids pick at lunch for $8.99 that includes an appetizer, entrée and dessert (chosen off the child’s menu).

3) Overall experience

The service at Le Cellier is what people have come to expect from Disney. The servers are attentive, knowledgeable, and go out-of-the-way to make your experience one you will remember. All of the people who work there are from Canada, so they can also provide some fun trivia information about the country.

The dress is resort casual, so this means no hats to cover your windblown hair after getting off of Test Track! They do not allow tank tops, swim suits or torn clothing either. The restaurant is non-smoking, and you can book reservations online or by calling 407-WDW-DINE.

Le Cellier is a signature restaurant so some people may be turned off by the price, however if you are looking for a good meal in an elegant setting, it is definitely worth it! The nice thing is that they also offer lunch, so if you are looking for the same experience at a slightly lower price, then lunch is a great option as well, and that will only use up one credit on the Disney Dining Plan.  The question was, “Does Le Cellier live up to all the hype?” In a word, I say yes! If you are getting close to that 180 day window, get ready to start making those reservations!

She has been to Disney over 70 times and worked at Blizzard Beach as part of the Disney College Program. She is now working on finding a way to move to FL, so she can be closer to her favorite place on Earth!

We’re always looking for our next article. If you share Lisa’s opinion, let us know. If you had a totally different experience, let us know. Maybe we can use your story in a follow-up very soon.

Thanks for coming along for a photographical Disney ride, and we’ll see most of you standing outside Le Cellier wishing you had been able to secure those elusive reservations.

Comments

  1. Can’t wait to go on our August trip! You left out that 2 credits are only required for dinner. Lunch is still 1 credit.

  2. It’s pretty, I grant that and I love some Canadians, but I can get into Yachtsman more easilly and be a satisfied carnivore with less wait. For my soup fix I just wait for the F&W…..great review- thanks for the details.

    • I always joke that when my kids are grown, maybe I will eat at some of these fabulous restaurants. Until then it’s hamburgers and cupcakes. Glad to know there is no shortage of good WDW restaurants. Thanks for stopping by! Amanda

      • My kiddos will be 6, 6, and 3 when we go – I’m not worried about taking them to a “nice” restaurant since they are pretty well behaved when we go out to eat. I’m sure they will find something they like on the menu. We all get tired of hamburgers after awhile!

  3. No tank tops?? I only wear tank tops on our trips (90 degrees plus!) We have lunch reservations on our next trip – would we be turned away? 😦

  4. I cant wait til September, I finally got a lunch reservation after trying for years with days and times just never working! I am soooo looking forward to it!!!

  5. We wanted to eat there when we go in May, but only going one day, and that day was booked up. Guess I could have kept looking, but we also have a few other places in EPCOT to try, so…it’s no big deal! Via Napoli for dinner…been turned away two times when we tried to walk up…no turning away this time!

  6. Lisa,

    Great post & great review!

Haven’t eaten there yet, but we’ll add it to our “To Eat” list!

    Thanks!

    Brenda & Roger
