Adventure Awaits with Tiki Handbags and 3wick Disney Inspired Candles!

Back in January I shared my etsy shop with all you wonderful Mouzies and have since then revamped the candle section of my shop and added a really fun new product!

Enter: the Tiki Buttercup Bag!

I found this fabric not long after my Grandpa gave me my Grandma’s sewing machine and I decided to teach myself how to sew on it.  It is adorable and retro and the tikis bring back so many awesome Disney vacation memories I knew you would love it! Whether you just love the tikis found at the entrances to Adventureland in Magic Kingdom, are a huge fan of the Enchanted Tiki Room itself, or maybe just love the Polynesian Resort or Trader Sam’s at Disneyland Hotel.  I made multiple versions of this awesome bag with different linings: Orange lining with white pockets, Red floral lining with white pockets, Pink & Cream patchwork floral, and even a Pink & Cream patchwork floral with hidden straps!

And, of course, with summer at hand I couldn’t resist pouring some candles and restocking the shop- this time I’ve added 3-wick Candles to the mix in: Polynesian Resort, Yacht & Beach Club Resort, Mickey Waffles, plus a small jar of Yacht & Beach, Walt Disney quote illuminated candle holder with Poly votives, ceramic turtle holder with Poly candle, and a retro Poly Candle Mug!

Come on by and check out all the Disney inspired crafts in my etsy shop and grab a little bit of Disney vacation at home! 😉

Gaston’s Tavern

Nestled in the new Fantasyland expansion is Gaston’s Tavern.  As a girl who grew up with the new animated classics and could recite Beauty & the Beast for you line by line, this whole area is just perfect! The new storytime in Belle and Maurice’s cottage is fab and so is every detail at Be Our Guest restaurant.

However in all the excitement for this area plastered all over the internet, poor Gaston seems to be left out! And since Be Our Guest is so popular the lines here can be significantly shorter!! Here are my top 5 reasons you should add Gaston’s to your to-do list:
1- The fountain!! After all what is a Beauty & the Beast area without a fountain? It makes me want to sit and ready a fairytale like Belle does in her opening sequence of the film.

2- The attention to detail! Have a seat by the fire in Gaston’s chair, check out how he used antlers in all of his decorating, and even check out his winning dart game vs Lefou!
3- Surprises! The nods to Disney references worked right into the barrels!

4- Lefou’s Brew! I love signature drinks and this frosty apple frozen drink does not disappoint! And for an added charge you can get it in a souvenir mug!

5- The food! My cinnamon roll was bigger than Gaston’s bicep and I liked the lamb shank better than (gasp!) the Magic Kingdom turkey legs!!

Why I Love My Disney Visa

I know that credit cards are usually not part of “love” posts but since I learned how to use credit properly I feel very empowered by the bonuses from Chase! Recently I went back and forth between upgrading my Disney Rewards Visa to a Premiere card and found that there are both advantages and disadvantages to upgrading. Of course I thought I’d share with you the pros, cons, and perks!

First of all the major allure of either card is that you earn Disney Dream Rewards dollars. These go into a rewards total and can be cashed out once you reach $10 ($20 the first time since they are loaded into a reusable card). You earn 1% back on everything but with the Premiere card you earn 2% on many purchases. Both also offer 0% Disney vacation financing for 6 months, a $50 Disney Cruise Line onboard credit, and in park perks like discounts on merchandise and meet and greets. The catch on the Premiere card is that you have an annual fee of $49. (Remember that all this info is subject to change as per Chase bank.)

Here is a little bit of info that may make you want to open a new line or switch to a new account: As of new credit legislation in 2010 Chase has frozen interest rates. What does that mean for you? Well most rates were higher a couple years ago AND for those of you in a position like me (I’ve had my Disney Visa since day 1 which happened to be when I was in college and had no credit history) you may have an interest rate higher than you desire. Since Chase is not renegotiating rates or running yearly adjustments for the time being you may want to look into applying for a Premiere- my APR is half on my Premiere card what it is on my original Disney visa!

Bottomline: with my Premiere card I have to pay $49 per year but as long as I keep going to Disney World I will earn that back pretty easily in rewards dollars. Plus when you first sign up the gift card bonus is $50 more for the Premiere card so it sort of pays for its first year! If you know your family would take advantage of using your card for points AND paying it off each month then you should def look into these cards! With savvy spending they can help you get to Disney World! 😉

Let’s Fight Hunger, Mouzies!

Hey friends! Here at Mouze Kateerz we are joining with some of our favorite bloggers to help raise money for a cause that is close to our hearts and everyone can participate!

Head on over to our Feeding America page for more info and donate whatever you can afford to help us.  We will be joining with our blogging friends for the next two weeks- donations are due by January 30th and we are hoping to raise $1,000 with your help.  $1000 would provide 8,000 meals to those in need thanks to the partnerships Feeding America has with food pantries across the country.  EIGHT THOUSAND! Can you believe it?! Just take a quick minute and think about it and you can probably spare $1.  If you can’t we understand, but due to the recent changes in our economy there are families without the ability to feed themselves and no one deserves to go to bed hungry!

Help Mouze Kateerz, Picturing Disney and our other blogging friends and lets try to end hunger in America, one meal at a time!

Smell your way to an instant vacation with Disney World inspired candles!

Hey all! It’s Melissa here! Anyone have a case of the Disney blues? Looking for a way to escape back to the parks at home? Look no further than the newest crafty creation you can find in my Etsy shop! I wanted to give upcycling candles a try and when I started to make a floral batch I closed my eyes and thought “Wow! This reminds me of the Grand Floridian lobby.” Low and behold, an idea came together– followed by the creation of a Caribbean Beach Resort scent and another 5 different scents.  I had been trying to find a way to use or sell some ceramic M.Mouse Collection mugs and so I created my own line of Walt Disney World inspired candles!

You will find votives, tealights, and larger candle mugs over at my Etsy shop all scented to smell like your favorite resorts! I have gotten really great feedback from people who have purchased in the past (currently I am sold out of Sunshine Tree Terrace, Yacht & Beach Club, Boardwalk, and Polynesian but I am hoping to recreate all these scents in the future).  If you are interested in purchasing more than one product contact me over on Etsy and let me know and I will work out the shipping costs! And be sure to remind me that you read about my shop here on Mouze Kateerz!!

Interested more in the upcycling candle process than purchasing your little scent of Disney World? Well, had on over to Picturing Disney and check out the post I created as I created my first batches of candles!
