Showing Disney Love to Someone Unknown

Meleney

By Frances

There are some stories that you read and forget. Others that create a since if urgency and action. In my personal news feed on Facebook came a post from a fellow Mouze Kateerz writer, Amanda Major (Cheapskate Princess). It was about a young lady that was losing her battle with a Ewing Sarcoma. Her name is Meleney Harris. She is 20 years old and should have the best parts of life in front of her; however, she is faced with the fact that her own family will not have enough for her funeral.

This was copied off the comments on her page giving a description of her battle.

Meleney Harris has been fighting ewing sarcoma which now it cant be fought know longer, her doctor told us today that she has week left, shes 20 years old, no life insurance, no burial insurance, which leaves Daniel as well as her parents to do what they can do, shes a graduate of Foley high school and is a straight a student, she was planning on going to college to be a ultrasound tech. All this came to a stop when she was diagnosed with ewing sarcoma. She has spent 7 months going through surgeries, chemo, which her tumor was resistant to chemo, now the tumor is pushing on her lungs, collapsing them, and putting pressure on her heart, nothing can be done, I’m asking for help for this family, please help Daniel (her fiance) and her family lay Meleney down to rest, There are 3 things she wants and 2 of these things are white roses with purple tips for her spray and a brown bed for her body to lay in with silver lining, her favorite colors are deep purple, and lime green and silver. She wants to be laid to rest next to her grand mother in Elberta Alabama, our lives are crushed knowing we are fixing to lose this beautiful young lady,

With all of the Disney love that Mouze Kateerz readers have, I ask that each of you search your heart and donate to her fund so her family doesn’t have to worry about paying for her final arrangements.

CLICK HERE for the link to Donate to her burial expense.

As a mother I can’t imagine what her parents and fiance are going through. Every little bit helps. Thank you!

Abusing the Guest Assistance Card

Disney Guest Assistance Card, how to get a Disney Guest Assistance Card, what is a Disney Guest Assistance card

By Frances

There have been several news stories lately about Disney guests abusing the Guest Assistance Card. Just in case you haven’t heard  ….The today show on NBC did an investigative report on two people that you pay to to get you to the front of the lines using the “GAC”.

Here is the link to the full news storyMagic Kingdom, Cinderella Castle, Tomorrowland Disney

The guest assistance card is given to guests that need additional assistance for medical needs. It’s used to alert cast members that you may need a special entry or accommodations. Some  special needs that you will allow you to receive  a GAC for is: Autism, Cerebral Palsy, foot, knee or back problems, heat and sun problems, claustrophobia and crowd phobias. There could also be others but you would need to contact someone at Guest Relations to find out specifics. This card is also given at the sole discretion of the Disney Cast Members.  This card shouldn’t be abused by able bodies.

The two people in the report used their disability to profit from the GAC. One was paid $200 per day and the other $50 per hour to get you to the front of the line with little to no wait.

Jonand buzzHere is Disney’s statement:

“We find it deplorable that people would hire the disabled to abuse accommodations that were designed to permit our guests with disabilities to enjoy their time in the parks. We have initiated a review of this abuse and will take appropriate steps to deter this type of unacceptable activity.”

I have a special needs child and the GAC has allowed us to enjoy our vacation by limiting our time standing in lines. We do stand in lines when they are up to 20 minutes long. Longer than that, my son will go on sensory overload and we will end up exiting the line to save the people around us from his moment.

Some rumored ways Disney will change the policy:

~ Requiring a handicap car plaque to be shown

~ Requiring a note from your doctor stating that you need the GAC without interfering with HIPPA regulations.

~ Limiting the pass to be used by the one that needs assistance + 1 guest (It’s currently for the one that needs assistance + 5 guests)

~ Limiting the pass to be used by the one that needs assistance + 3 guests

fastpass plus sensorsHere are my personal thoughts:

~ I willingly tell them that my son is Autistic and I will show them whatever they require. They don’t have to give the GAC out. They are doing it as a service to their guests and I greatly appreciate it.

~ Keep my license number on file. They will be able to track how often I request it. If I request a new one every 14 days, then I might need to be investigated. We have annual passes so we are there often.

~ Have each member of the party at Guest Relations when the GAC is issued and not just the one that needs it. This will keep guests from requesting it for 6 people when they really only need it for 3.

~ Instead of being able to go through the fast pass line immediately upon arriving. If the wait is 90 minutes for the ride, then have the guest come back in 90 minutes.

~ I don’t mind that my son can’t go to the front of the line for character meetings. I schedule character meals and plan ahead to meet the characters that he will want to meet.

When the Mickey Bands are put into full force, this will help the abuse. I will absolutely use the Mickey Band scheduling vs the GAC.

Magic Kingdom is at capacity and I don’t know what to do!

Disney fireworks, Magic Kingdom fireworks, Main Street, U.S.A.,

By Frances

When going to the Disney Parks during any peak holiday season, one or more of the parks will close due to capacity. There is a system to them closing the entrance and it’s always good to know.

Closing Phases

Phase 1

Guests with ‘Magic Your Way’ base tickets, or a ‘1-Day 1-Park Ticket’, Guests without an admission ticket, and Cast Members using Main Gate & Silver Passes will be turned around at the parking lot booths.

Phase 2

Admission is limited to:

Disney Resort Guests (including the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, and guests arriving by bus from the Hotel Plaza Boulevard hotels)

Annual and Premium Annual Passholders

Guests with Hopper tickets coming from another park

Guests re-entering the park

Guests with dining reservations

Magic Kingdom Guests with reservations for Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique or The Pirates League

Guests using Walt Disney World Resort Transportation will be admitted.

Phase 3

Admission is limited to:

Disney Resort Guests (including the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, and guests arriving by bus from the Hotel Plaza Boulevard hotels)

Annual and Premium Annual Passholders

Guests with dining reservations

Magic Kingdom Guests with reservations for Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique or The Pirates League

Phase 4

Closed to all guests.

3 Important Point To Mention Again!

1. Guest that are staying at WDW resort (on property) are granted entrance until Phase 4. You may pay a higher price buy you can get in.

2. Reservations on holidays can save the day. If staying off property make dining reservations inside the park you want to attend or at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique or Pirates League inside the Magic Kingdom.

3. When the park is at phase 4 you will not be allowed to enter no matter if you have reservations or if you are staying at a WDW resort. On peak holidays, I have know for the Magic Kingdom to be at phase 4 as early as 12 noon. If you have 7pm reservations, plan to be at the park all day! If you leave, you take a chance of not being let back into the park for your reservation time and you will be charged for missing your reservation. OUCH!
