Large Family going to Disney on a budget

Jango FetBeing a family of seven, yes seven, Disney on a budget is a must. Our first trip as a family of seven will happen in June when we take the kids for Star Wars Weekend. Yes, my fiance and I are nuts for taking them during a peak time and a HOT time, but with three boys who love Star Wars, a fiance who grew up on it and two girls who like the idea a girl can kick tail is a cool. So now it comes to me, how in the world are we going to do what they want with hopping parks and going to new dining places as it will be the fiance and his two boys first time going so we have to “do it right” according to my three.

Well being the Mouze Mom that I am I started playing with staying at a moderate resort in two rooms versus one of the wonderful villa’s on property. Pouring over them, pros and cons, having been to Disney a few years ago in June I know the need for getting out of the hot sun or finding a way to cool off other than getting soaked on Kali River Rapids. So that meant a nice room and a cool pool. After going back and forth with my fiance on the resorts we settled on Saratoga Springs getting a two bedroom villa. We still got the Plus Dining so that we could enjoy the on property fun of Tusker House and Whispering Canyon, but breakfast is not a big thing for four out of the seven of us (3 teenage boys could eat all day!) so with the full kitchen the bottomless pits can make their own breakfasts while we grab a few extra minutes of sleep.

Next came the discussion of tickets. To hop or not to hop that was the question. After looking at the times and which parks offered the fabulous extra magic hours we plotted out a game plan to hop. How many days now? We are going to be there for 5 nights/6days. Playing with the ticket options and days we took a 4 day hopper with the water parks and more option.Being so close to Downtown Disney and Typhoon Lagoon we thought these were great ways to cool off during the hot afternoons.

We know that there are cheaper times to go to Disney, but with Disney they have been offering more and more specials that will make it possible for us in the future to stay during an off peak time perhaps even in a moderate resort with adjoining two rooms.
