Key Lime Pie from Olivia’s at the Old Key West Resort: the Bake-It-Yourself Recipe

By Melissa L.

While the Old Key West Resort is a Disney hotel that I have little interest in, they have a recipe that I felt compelled to try. It’s called “Key Lime Pie from Olivia’s.” So why was I so intrigued? It has only four ingredients!!!  And literally, that’s as easy as pie!

Instructions

1. Take 5 egg yolks, and whip them right up!

2. Then add a can of sweetened condensed milk  and whip that all together.

3.  Now add ¾ cup lime juice. I fresh squeezed mine, and it took 3 pretty big limes to get the right amount of liquid.

4. When everything is all combined, pour it into a graham cracker pie crust.

4.5  Now I actually felt like the pie was just a bit too yellow for my taste, so I added a few drops of green food coloring for effect, but you certainly do not have to do that.

Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes and voila. Just let the pie cool completely and top with some yummy whipped cream! :D

  1. If you use regular lime juice then it isn’t key lime pie. I would use key lime juice and leave out the food coloring. True key lime pie is a very subtle yellow color and key lime juice is much smoother then regular lime juice. The juice can be found in bottles in most large grocery stores. The difference in taste is surprising.

  2. Old Key West is a great resort to stay in. Close to DD and has a great pool and some of the largest rooms on property. Give it a try one time.
