A Dream is a Wish…

Mouzing around under Cinderella Castle.

Every photo has a story.

It’s incredibally difficult to take pictures at Disney during the busy holidays.  There are literally people everywhere you turn.  If they’re not blocking the shot, you’re blocking theirs.

I touch everything in the Magic Kingdom.  I think it’s a hold-over from childhood trips spent standing in long lines, pre-Fastpass, with nothing to do but sweat in the summer heat and touch the walls.  The Cinderella Castle tiles, though certainly not attached to any ride, are smooth and cool to the touch.  The colors are bright and vivid and inviting to the fingers. They whisper to me; they speak of my childhood.

I took this shot in a hurry,  on the other side of the corridor, because there were people passing through on their way to roller coaster rides before Christmas. No time to touch the tiles.

Thanks for stopping by for a photographical Disney ride!

  7. Heidi Babcock says:

We usually make a special trip throught he castle just to see the tiles. However, on our most recent trip we were annoyed (yes annoyed) to see that every time we tried to et in the castle it was closed off for yet another castle show. Now don’t get me wrong…I love the show and I understand adding shows during the holidays but it made us all a little sad not to make that trek through the castle!

  8. Oh, I love these mosiacs… Thanks for the great picture! When the kids are with me I cant seem to stop and admire them as long as I’d like too!

  9. I too LOVE walking through the castle to marvel at the mosaics 🙂

I’ve been to MK several times, but it wansn’t until I worked at EPCOT under the WDW College Program that I even noticed the tiles. So sad…

  13. Maggie Madere says:

One of my favorite childhood memories was running away from my parents and “hiding” inside of the castle. When I looked up and saw those beautiful mosaics I was awe struck. I knew that I was in the presence of royalty and only special people were invited inside. When I later saw that people actually ate inside I was beside myself and vowed that one day I would be so special that I could eat inside the castle. Fast forward many years…. On our first multi day Disney trip, my husband got reservations for our first night and proposed at dinner. The waiter brought out a special dessert which was the ring on a rose with a glass slipper that my husband secretly bought at Arribas earlier that day without me noticing. Talk about little girl and grown up dreams all rolled up into one!

  14. samantha pertle says:

Love walking thru the castle with my girls. it was their second trip and my third. it still gives me goose bumps. I cant wait to see the new Little mermaid and Eric’s castle completed.
